The 2013 Toon To Town Challenge

In 2013 we decided to make things a little harder. Someone came up with the idea of turning the challenge into a triathlon and this is how some of the group ended up swimming one mile, cycling 420 miles and completing the 13.5 miles of the Great North Run.

The original plan was to do the swim section in the Serpentine, however due to circumstances beyond our control (a concert held in Hyde Park) we had to change our venue to an indoor pool.

On Monday 9th, the riders began the first leg of the journey from London (Angel Islington) to the Angel of The North. The route took us through Northampton, Nottingham, Leeds, Catterick (to visit Help For Heroes Phoenix House) arriving at Newcastle on Friday 13th.

There were more participants than ever in the 2013 challenge and we decided that a number of charities would be benefiting from the money we raised. These were Help For Heroes, Prostate Cancer UK, The Brain Tumour Charity, Ready For Home, Claire House and Bluebell Wood.
