Monday the 6th of July 2015 saw the beginning of the Toon To Town Challenge at the Parc Y Scarlets, home of the Scarlets and Llanelli RFC. Twenty riders gathered for what was to be the start of a gruelling five day 470-mile journey back to the North East.
The two main charities which were supported in 2015 were The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Help For Heroes with some members of the group opting to raise additional funds for other charities which had personally influenced their lives.
One of the highlights of the ride for us was on day four (York to Scotch Corner) with a visit to the Help For Heroes Phoenix House in Catterick. As well as having a personal tour of the facilities, we were able to present a cheque for £50,000 to Help For Heroes and another for £20,000 to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
